Fundraising campaigns

We divide fundraising strategies into two types: tested and untested. The tested ones have a track record. Direct marketing solicitation, selling Christmas cards, telethons... We know how to do many of these and can do it for you. Some work better than others, but there is enough data available and market research is sufficiently sophisticated to ensure basic success. Untested strategies are riskier but the gains are potentially greater. Over the years, we have conceived several such "out of the box" campaigns. Several have had great success.

What are fundraising strategies?

Asking people at large to give money has become increasingly difficult. A variety of reasons exist ranging from donor fatigue to scandals. The truth is that, exclusing extraordinary events, only those causes with credibility can convince. Credibility, however, comes at a price, that of making known one's efforts and successes. Without noise, there can be no returns. This formula holds true for organizations of all sizes. In addition, fundraising messages have to compete with commercial messages.

One to one funding requests face the same challenge. Donors, whether governments, foundations or wealthy philanthropists, are faced with endless requests and their initial evaluation criteria remain the tools with which they are presented.

Mondofragilis network fundraising strategies are effort intensive. In fact, we back our conviction with our own tool - funding.org - that you will discover elsewhere on this site.

Who benefits?

All non-profit entities that depend on donations to complete their mission benefit.

What are the steps?

We begin our service by getting to know the organization and its mission well. In parallel, we start gathering data about potential donors' reaction to you: news stories, biographies, and interviews with sample targets. We also make a comprehensive analysis of current trends that will affect your funding request. Next, based on your ongoing activities and resource realities, we determine the goals of your image. Our team then sets out to develop a broad campaign strategy that will ultimately be narrowed down to a specific set of fundraising actions.

Finally, we deliver one or more approaches for your selection. The mondofragilis network staff that worked on the analysis presents the strategies. With them, you will choose and/or modify one of the strategies. Based on these final recommendations, they will construct a preliminary working plan, the precise messages and the most compatible media for any necessary dissemination.

Generally, we remain with our clients throughout the fundraising campaign process to make sure that it remains on track and to readjust messages as outside interference occurs.

What results follow?

Asking for money is not a perfect science. Many factors influence people's generosity. Our added value is our many years of dealing with donors. The result is a fundraising campaign that will prove both original and coherent with the organization's mission.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

A comprehensive fundraising campaign plan is separated into three phases: analysis, strategy and dissemination. Stages one and two ideally require three to four months of work, especially if the organization is very busy throughout this period. Dissemination depends on the type of campaign ranging from a few days for a major one on one presentation with a single donor to several weeks for a mass-market campaign.

Costs begin at EUR 2,000 for an advisory role. Fees for extensive, long-term fundraising is based on a flat fee plus a percentage of the clients' funding total.

Creative

Mondofragilis has created various types of fundraising materials. The team's portfolio includes mass market postcards sold on behalf of the International Organization for Migration, documents created for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, events produced with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and several more.
