Literally, it is caused by more than 6 million cars, half a million motorbikes, one of the world’s largest urban fleets of helicopters, planes, construction sites, you name it. In a more abstract way, it is created by an extremely diverse and vivid civil society which forms a continuously growing part of this megalopolis. In São Paulo alone you find hundreds of civil society organisations, ranging from small grassroots organisations to international NGOs and foundations. Opening our Latin American office in this vibrant city was only a natural thing to do.
